Dive into the Italian avant-garde with the legendary "Hyaline" chair, a revolutionary creation by Fabio Lenci, produced by Comfort in 1968. A perfect embodiment of space-age technological minimalism, its bold structure consists of two majestic thick glass sides that suspend a quilted black leather seat in mid-air. This exceptional model is presented in its most complete configuration, including its original chrome-plated metal reading tablet or glass holder. A historic design milestone offered at €5,500.

An Engineering Feat: The Illusion of Levitation

Fabio Lenci, known for his scientific and structural approach to furniture, created with the Hyaline a work of complete visual lightness.

Structural Transparency: The name "Hyaline" comes from the Greek hualos (glass, crystal) and describes a transparent substance like glass. The two thick tempered glass side panels, subtly curved at the edges, serve as both legs and armrests. They make the structure almost invisible, giving the impression that the body is floating in the air.

Anatomical Roll Seat: Suspended between the glass panels, the ergonomic seat is made of successive padded rolls covered in absolutely elegant textured black leather. This roll system offers exceptional seating comfort by conforming to the body's movements.

High-Precision Assembly: No heavy metal frame disrupts the line. The seat is attached to the glass panels by imposing brushed/chrome-plated metal buttons and fixings that pass through the glass. This attention to industrial detail is Lenci's signature.

The Collector's Holy Grail: The removable polished metal reading tablet, pivoting with a metal knob, is the ultimate accessory. Featuring a circular cut-out for a glass or ashtray, it transforms this armchair into a true self-contained relaxation space.

Condition and Details

The Glass: The glass sides are in magnificent condition, with superb translucency and impeccable polished edges. The armchair is cleverly equipped with small, discreet black glides or castors at the base to protect the glass from direct contact with the floor.

The Leather: The original black leather has retained its grain, suppleness, and authentic patina, with no apparent tears.

Rarity: Finding a Hyaline chair on the market is already an event, but presenting it with its optional tablet in perfect original condition is an extremely rare opportunity for connoisseurs.

💡 Gallery Owner's Style Tip

"The Hyaline chair is a chameleon piece of furniture thanks to its transparency. It never visually overloads a space, making it perfect even in smaller rooms. To accentuate its futuristic look, place it near a graphic or textured rug (like the tiger rug seen in the background): the patterns will show through the glass sides, creating fascinating optical illusions."
