Inspired by ritual bronzes from ancient China (Zhou and Han dynasties), this "Hu"-shaped vase, 27 cm high, is a prime choice for Asian art enthusiasts. Covered in the famous pale celadon green Ge-style glaze, it stands out with its short neck flanked by two stylized tubular handles (called "ears"). Its network of broad, geometric crackles beautifully highlights its faceted lines, offering a profile of rare geometric and historical elegance.

Visual Impact: The Nobility of Archaic Forms

This vase brings immense aesthetic variety to your collection thanks to its architectural structure.

The Ritual "Hu" Form: Traditionally used to hold sacred beverages during ceremonies, this vase features a bulging body set on a small circular base, rising to a slightly constricted neck.

Flared Ear Handles: Flanking each side of the neck, these small geometric tenon-shaped handles (or stylized ears) recall the gripping systems of bronze vases cast over 2000 years ago. They structure the piece and give it a proud, museum-like character.

The "Golden Crackle and Iron Thread" Crackle Network: The crackle pattern is highly structured, almost square. The surface is punctuated by large, very pronounced dark lines, doubled by a secondary network of lighter, golden micro-fissures. This is an exact replication of the highly prized historical technique known as "Jinxi Tiexian" (Gold threads and iron wires).

💡 The Gallerist's Advice

"This 'Hu' vase is a favorite of decorators because it deviates from the classic roundness of ginger jars. It's a very graphic piece. Its open collar allows it to be used as a real vase: simply slip in one or two dried cherry branches, a pampas plume, or an exotic palm leaf. Placed on a minimalist desk or coffee table, its 'archaeological chic' look will make a splendid statement."
