Of rare elegance, this bottle vase, 26 cm high, embodies one of the most poetic silhouettes of imperial Chinese ceramics. Adorned with its superb pale celadon green glaze, it features a flattened globular body topped with a long tubular neck, flanked by two sculpted volute handles. Its network of broad, geometric crackles gracefully emphasizes the tensions of its curved lines, creating a delicate work of art with timeless charm.

Visual Impact: Purity of Lines and Detail of the Handles

This model radically stands out from other pieces in the collection due to the fineness of its proportions and its sculpted elements.

A "Gourd" or Bottle Silhouette: The contrast between the very round, generously flattened base (the 17 cm width is concentrated on the lower bulb) and the minimalist slenderness of the long cylindrical neck offers perfect visual balance.

The Volute Handles (Ruyi Scepter Spirit): At the base of the neck, the piece is accentuated by two magnificent small sculpted handles that curl in on themselves in spirals. These volutes recall the shape of immortality mushrooms (Lingzhi) or Ruyi scepter heads, traditional symbols of good fortune and wish fulfillment in Asian art.

The Graphics of the Crackle: One notices in the image a very artistic play of crackles: they spread and widen on the bulging bulb to conform to the vase's roundness, then tighten very graphically and vertically along the neck, accentuating the piece's height effect.

💡 The Gallerist's Advice

"With its slender silhouette and refined handles, this vase is a highly poetic work. It doesn't need flowers to exist; it stands alone as a true miniature sculpture. Display it at eye level, on a backlit library shelf or a fireplace. Its delicacy will shine beautifully if placed next to more massive or raw objects (like the 27 cm 'Hu' vase with square ears previously seen), creating a fascinating dialogue between archaic strength and imperial refinement."
